What is Yoga Nidra?

The term “Yoga Nidra” means Yogic sleep. It is a systematic method to achieve complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

It is defined as the experience of a sleep state in which the subject rests in a state of deep non-rem sleep, producing delta (1-4 hertz) brain waves, and at the same time fully aware of the events in her environment.

When your senses are disconnected for a certain period of time, this is known as Pratyahara. Yoga Nidra is a technique that can bring even a beginner deep into the realm of pratyahara.

Yoga Nidra is the opposite of meditation. The senses withdraw and the mind does not concentrate on anything but is lulled to sleep.

The consciousness can go as far as you can lead it yourself.
