Trabucador, one of the many beaches of the Delta
The 16 km length of the coast of L’Ametlla de Mar is one of the most charming and unspoilt coasts of the Mediterranean. There are beautiful cliffs where you can walk along the “grand route” GR 92, from the coast to the picturesque beaches and bays.
The Ebro Delta is a 20-minute drive away. This is where the Ebro River flows into the sea. Here you will find pristine beaches, rice fields, 325 different animal species including colonies of pink flamingos, ibises and egrets. It is a paradise for bird lovers
Upstream from the river Ebro you will find the Els Ports Nature Park, a steep mountain range with a rich flora and fauna. Here live eagles and vultures. It is an unspoilt nature reserve that has hardly been discovered by tourists. The special beauty of this area was a source of inspiration for “PICASSO”, who lived here for a while in Horta de Sant Joan.
There are many options for short and long walking routes in the park. You can also enjoy the “Via Verde” by bike or on foot. This is a former railroad track.
You can also visit beautiful towns and villages such as: Tortosa, Tarragona, Reus (birth place of Guadi) and the wine region Terra Alta with its beautiful bodegas.
